fun with words

During Kala's birthday appero last saturday, one of our conversations went like this:

Makis kay Kala: "Tinanong ko kay Julien kung ready na ba siya dyan," sabay turo kay Sebastien at Mayumi. "Natawa lang siya sabi ko kasi kayong dalawa bata rin. Dinilaan lang niya ako," parang siyang bata talaga, natatawa kong kwento .

Kala, putting her hands on her hips, a little annoyed but not surprised says to Julien: "Why are you licking people?!"

Julien showed us a vocabulary nuance: tagalog word dinilaan means 1) to stick your tongue out, or 2) to lick. He exhibits the latter to no other but Kala - obviously (see photo) & this is about having a pet dog, I was told. The last time I laughed like this was quite a long time ago.

With three languages in use during a gathering like this, you can already imagine the fun we have with words.

From Manila to Paris, then to Marseille & to the Côte d'Azur, now in Singapore, clinging to a map of three worlds, where everything becomes all relative.

  1. Well, I gues that between Kala & me, the tongue is not a problem anymore. Ho, don't tell her I said that, she would find there is a sexual connotation, which there is not - of course.

    My twisted tongue,
    Her twisted mind !

  2. ha ha ha, this is a good one, I can only imagine all your bungisngis! Watch out for the french tongue! Hope to meet these blokes on summer!

  3. waaaaaaaa asan ka dyan sis?
    asan si Kala dyan?

  4. Julien : I'm really glad that it's just between you & Kala! Hehehe!

Lynn : Sometimes Kala really cracks me up! Don't forget that I can now drive so just let us know when you'll be around.

Nao : Oo nga, medyo madilim, camera ko kasi bano sa unlighted areas. The Pinays of the south of France, as seen from your left: Hazel, Makis, Apol with that cute projection, and Kala with Julien's *ahem* tongue on her right cheek. Hehehe!

  5. hagalpakan ng malakas....ha ha ha! Sumakit tyan ko senyo! The best GAG only from South of France!!!

    O dito na tayo ;-)

  6. O yeah I forgot about the driving, then that would be cool. Err do you have a baby car seat??? Should we bring our own?

  7. Hazel : Ako rin, sumakit tiyan ko kay Kala! Tagal ko na rin umiyak sa kakatawa :)

Lynn : Like our house not being baby-proof, our car is not baby-friendly ;) Would really like to see you again, it's been a long time na!
