digging in the dirt

When Kala introduced me to youtube last year, I spent days ransacking a long buried era of music, begging an old friend to rescue me from a bottomless memory hole, just to be able to listen to them again. And together with a long list, she gave me the link of one of the best radio stations of my epoque - WXB 102 just because we loved new wave & punk rock & XB was the station for it back in the 80's.

Yes, I am sucker for anything that ticks a minute part of my past & every moment is tagged with its own background music & XB has been such a part of our growing up. We used to call for requests countless times a day & record songs. Moving on the years, we willfully embraced new memories with new music when XB shut down in 1987. But now that they're back through internet radio streaming together with the original DJs, I just can't help but grin, sing & do a slam dance with all these songs that was a part of me, a version of me that I enjoyed even with the growing pains. It's just hard to forget that period of our life where everything is simply justifiable - our youthfulness.

Yes, I could be overly nostalgic because going back to the future is always a fresh breeze of relief - relief in every good way possible.

Thanks so much Preppy (& to Twinkle for passing on to Preppy) for sharing this memory trip.

  2. Music brings a different feeling all the time, whether its an old or new song.

And those memories it triggers is simply a great moment.

I also discovered You Tube almost a year ago and whoh...so much stuff you can from it that can definitely overdose you with "ala-ala"

  3. Yep, mitsuru, the past is blasting away on my parallel world :)

I had like a whole month of being stuck on youtube! And I totally agree how music affects us, Leah - thank god for it!
